A special program for families new (or moving) to Arizona, who need time, support, and a community to get the lay of the land.

Colearn Academy is a K-12 virtual charter school that specializes in creating community, tapping local learning experiences, and running field trips and events across Arizona. We support accelerated and flexible learning models, so we are loved by families moving to or recently relocated to Arizona.

Transitioning to a new place is more than a handful. School transitions can create challenges. Students come in in the "middle of the year" and find they are far ahead or far behind, and then they struggle because traditional school can't accommodate. We’ve designed something different.

We can start students wherever they are in their curriculum. We can accelerate them or support them with foundations. Because Colearn Academy is both authorized and accredited, we can help you transition to whatever school you want to transfer to in the future.

Colearn Academy allows parents to use an Enrichment Account to pay for approved local education services. We count meeting with tutors or attending community events towards attendance. Our community of parents and students are constantly out and about, and our Engagement Team will help you learn more about what your community has to offer.

Pick up credits for interests, projects, and work.

Students transferring in from out of state might come in with cool projects, work experience, topics relevant to them they have expertise on. They may be skilled at something that requires a lot of practice. Why can’t that count for academic credit?  It can!  We have a way to appreciate and assess independent learning and work that is unique to us.   

Your first term incomplete or a wrinkle in your GPA? Finish the year at Colearn Academy and iron out the whole credit.

If you finish out the year using our interactive curriculum, and/or building out our (research-backed) independent study portfolio, you can demonstrate what you’ve learned and we’ll give you credit for the whole year with the grade you deserve.
